Social Media Infiltrates Legal World One Case at a Time

Social media has once again showcased its powerful influence, this time in the trial of now-famous George Zimmerman.  Social media has kept two potential jurors off the jury, revealed witness’ commentary on their own testimony, and prompted prosecutors to file a motion for inquiry into a photo posted of Zimmerman’s lead defense attorney.  David Hill, an Orlando criminal defense attorney, stated that it is becoming more commonplace to look at social media pages of witness’ and others involved in the trial to uncover motives, contradictions, and biases.  “Like it or not, when it comes to Facebook and social media, it may not just be Big Brother watching you, but your friendly neighborhood criminal defense attorney.”
